Solar for
Communities

Enjoy Solar Energy Benefits
Without Investment or Installation

Community solar provides nearby community members with equitable access to clean energy, lower electricity bills, a reduced carbon footprint, and increased energy independenceโ€”all without the need to install solar panels of their own.

How Does Community Solar Work?

There are many reasons why a community member may not be able to install their own solar panels. They may not own their own home, their roof conditions may not support it, there may not be enough sunlight to their roof, they may not be able to afford the upfront costs, and more.

Thatโ€™s where community solar steps in. At Chaberton Energy, we bring the benefits of solar power  to those who might otherwise miss out. Whether you live in a multi-unit building, rent your home, or simply have a roof that cannot accommodate a photovoltaic (PV) system, our community solar projects can help.

Off-Site Solar Panels

Solar panels are conveniently installed at an off-site location and connected tog the local utility service for usage.

Subscription Model

Local residents within the service area can sign up via a subscription model to participate in the program without having to install panels of their own.

Energy Credits

Residents start saving by receiving credits for their share of the energy generated from the panels.

How Does Community Solar
Help the Community?

Community solar provides ongoing benefits to your neighborhood.

It delivers lower-cost energy, helping subscribers save money while also aiding the planetโ€™s transition to cleaner power.

It’s a job creator and an economy booster, with the dollars saved often being reinvested  into local businesses.

Your community increases its grid resilience while unused land gains a purpose, or agricultural land gets a breather.

Chaberton Energy goes the extra mile by creating pollinator havens at our community solar projects, supporting local ecosystems. In some areas, we integrate agrivoltaics, where sheep or other small farm animals are brought in to graze between the solar panels rows, proving that solar farms and agriculture can be great partners.

Community Solar Does Not

Let’s clear up some common misconceptions about community solar.

Emit odors or
pollute the air

Produce
chemical runoff

Create dangerous glare or rays

(our panels are actually designed to minimize glare)

Ruin land
for future use

(in fact, they give agricultural fields a productive break, often enhancing biodiversity)

And when it comes to carbon offsetting, our solar farms are true champions, reducing more than 200x more CO2 annually than the same area of forest. In short, community solar offers clear benefits to your neighborhood, enhancing the local environment and economy.
