Chaberton and Sunscape Form Joint Venture to Develop Solar Energy Projects in Italy

Rockville, MD; April 26, 2023 – Chaberton Energy s.r.l., a wholly owned affiliate of Chaberton Energy Holdings Inc. (“Chaberton”), a U.S.-based renewable energy project developer, and Sunscape s.r.l. (“Sunscape”), an Italian renewable energy project developer, are pleased to announce the formation of a joint venture (“JV”) for the development of distributed solar energy projects in Italy.
“Our team has a long-standing experience in designing and permitting infrastructure projects in Italy and we are excited to begin this adventure with Chaberton, with whom we have already worked under a previous services agreement”, said Giancarlo Gentile, newly appointed CEO of the JV.
“There is a significant need in Europe for more renewable energy, and we intend to do our part by developing distributed solar energy projects”, said Stefano Ratti, CEO of Chaberton Energy and Chairman of the JV board. “Italy, in particular, is on the verge of launching a multi-GigaWatt community solar program, and, at Chaberton, we have a wealth of experience on what it takes to develop successful community solar projects”.
Chaberton will provide all the development capital, while Sunscape will lead all day-to-day project development activities. The JV will focus on projects in the 1-10 MW range, and will serve both newly-formed local “energy communities” and the wholesale market. In addition, the JV will explore the development of innovative agrivoltaic projects that couple green energy production and agricultural activity, and promote sustainable land use and biodiversity preservation. The JV already has four projects under site control and in active development, and several other prospects throughout Italy.
The JV will operate under the brand Sunscape, and will be based in Milan. The JV is operating across Italy and will explore the opportunity to expand to other European countries.
