Benefits of Leasing
Your Land for Solar & Storage

Leasing your land for solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) is a low-risk, high-reward opportunity to generate extra income. It provides a steady, passive, and significant revenue stream throughout the life of the project. Beyond the financial gains, the project will generate or store energy for your neighbors, help reduce electricity costs, increase energy independence, create jobs, and boost the local economy.

For farmers, a solar or BESS lease offers a chance to diversify while staying true to your agricultural roots. On our solar farms, we establish pollinator habitats to support bees, butterflies, and birds, which even boosts the productivity of nearby farms. In some areas, we also introduce agrivoltaics, or dual use of solar and farming. This might be the use of sheep and other small farm animals to graze the spaces between the panels to help maintain the land, or even the production of food crops. Energy and agriculture thriving together!

At the end of the land lease, our projects are thoughtfully decommissioned, and the land will be ready to return to its previous use.

How Community Solar & BESS Work

Community solar and BESS turn your acreage into a distributed generation or storage facility, supplying affordable electricity to the grid. First, we build the solar farm or battery storage installation on your land. For community solar projects, nearby residents and businesses who can’t install solar panels themselves, can subscribe to the project. This allows community members who otherwise wouldn’t be able to access discounted community solar to enjoy renewable energy and lower electricity bills, contributing to a healthier community while helping local residents save money. And storage systems collect energy when demand and pricing are low, discharging that stored energy when pricing is higher. They can also be called on during power outages, making your local grid more reliable.

Our Turnkey Process for Energy Development

Beginning a solar or BESS project with Chaberton Energy is straightforward, and we try to make it as easy on the landowner as possible. After the land lease agreement is signed, we take care of the details.  Our team conducts thorough site studies and prepares permit applications. We collaborate with the utility company to ensure a seamless interconnection process. We also engage the local community, addressing concerns and clarifying what the project entails.

With the groundwork laid, we design a distributed energy system customized for your land. As we gear up for construction, we finalize permits and approvals. The next phase is the construction of the facility. Once completed, the solar project or energy storage system starts producing or storing and discharging reliable local energy for your community. Throughout the process we may ask for your help supporting the project through the local approval process so you can collect the lease revenue and take pride in the energy savings shared with your community!
